Certificate Course in Women Health


Certificate Course in Women's Health (CCWH) is a six modular joint certificate course designed, developed and implemented by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) along with its academic partners Associates in Clinical Endocrinology Education & Research (ACEER Health), Chennai and Centre for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC), New Delhi and Technical Partner, World Heart Federation (WHF), Geneva and Indian College of Obstetrics & Gynecological (ICOG).

CCWH is a six modular course with the following objectives:

Primary objective

  • To enhance knowledge, skills and core competencies of Primary Care Physicians in the management of women's
  •        health.

    Secondary objectives
  • To develop a standard teaching protocol and module for evidence based learning of common health disorders        among women.
  • To build a network of Primary Care Physicians and specialists in the field of Endocrinologist/Diabetologist/        Obstetricians & Gynecologist.
  • Update Primary Care Physicians with the latest advancements in the field of women's health conditions.

  • PAN-India program in 30 cities.
  • Evidence based learning along with one to one interactions with the Experts.
  • 2:25 Class Ratio: One Endocrinologist/ Diabetologist & one Obstetricians & Gynaecologist for a class of 25        participants
  • Program Curriculum: Designed by academic partners with latest and updated inputs from 10 National Experts and        60 Regional Faculty
  • On-the-job training program: The training is conducted once a month on designated weekends at 30 regional        training centres.

    Course Details


    Eligibility and Enrolment Criteria

  • MBBS with minimum 3 years of clinical experience or
  • Post graduate Degree / Diploma MD/MS/DNB (Obstetricians & Gynaecologist or Medicine or Family Medicine)

  • Criteria for award of certificate
  • Participation in five out of six monthly contact sessions (including the pre-test and post -test of each module).
  • Completion of assigned course work. (Two descriptive assignments based on completed modules submitted        during the course)
  • Appearance and clearance of final written examination in the form of MCQs in an hour, along with Module 6.        (Min. 50% score required to clear the examination)
  • Course Fee: ₹ 10,000/-

  • Module 2: Adolescent and reproductive health
  • Puberty ; Normal, too early and too late
  • Menstrual disorders in adolescents & Reproductive years

  • Contraception throughout reproductive years
  • Preconception care
  • Premature ovarian failure
  • (will include Primary / Secondary Amenorrhea and Severe Dysmenorrhea - will cover Endometriosis)

    Module 3: Endocrine disorders in women
  • Diabetes in women
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Hypo and hyperthyroidism
  • Thyroid and pregnancy
  • Endocrine aspects of infertility
  • Obesity in women

  • Module 4: Bones and musculoskeletal disorders of women

  • Bone biology and mineral homeostasis in women
  • Vitamin D Skeletal and non skeletal roles
  • Calcium and Vitamin D in pregnancy and lactation
  • Post-menopausal osteoporosis
  • Approach to arthralgia and arthritis

  • Module 5: Cardio metabolic disorders

  • Cardiovascular risk in women; Scope and risk factors

  • Module 6: Preventive health and holistic approach to women's health
